This exercise is an aid to learning the subtraction tables.

It is useful to remember that one addition operation corresponds to two subtraction operations. To the addition operation 3+2=5 correspond the operations :

  • 5-3=2
  • 5-2=3

Tips for subtracting a digit from a number greater than 10.

  • To subtract 9 from a number, I add 1 to the number and subtract 10.
  • To subtract 8 from a number, I add 2 to the number and subtract 10.
  • To subtract 7 from a number, I add 3 to the number and subtract 10.
  • To subtract 6 from a number, I add 4 to the number and subtract 10.
